Sensational
Bad News, the full-length debut album from Waxing
Phil, contains eleven original new songs. The songs on this record
remind us both of the classic seventies singer-songwriter boom and
a folk rock for the new millennium. Wrought with engaging stories
and characters, lyrical riddles, and laden with smart pop hooks, each
song leaves plenty of room for listener involvement.
Evolving in production and arrangement from the 1999 EP, “Life
In The Day Of..”, Waxing Phil has crafted and produced a new
set of folk pop tunes for “Sensational Bad News” which
remind us of classic Dylan, Jethro Tull, Cat Stevens and Tom Petty
and the Heartbreakers.
Influenced by these folk and classic rock luminaries and paying tribute
throughout, “Sensational Bad News” is an unforgettable
collection of songs. But the question remains, who is Waxing Phil?
Waxing Phil began as a solo folk singer-songwriter in the mid-nineties
and has grown into an eclectic group of musicians who happily float
somewhere in the Alt-Rock-Folk-Pop-Americana genre, native to its
Midwestern roots.
“Sensational Bad News”
is proudly released on the independent Lola Records label and will
be in stores and available online somtime in June 2003.
